Highways are full of accidents – Don’t be in one of them

Over the last few days, a couple of The León Law Firm’s team members took road trips for a couple of different reasons, but some of the things they saw during the trips made us very concerned.

While traveling in the US Interstate highway the scenery was amazing, however, not everything was perfect. Below are some of the of the situations that alarmed us.

Some delays were caused by construction on the roads.  Although construction is to be expected, it was shocking how drivers ignored the slower posted speed limits and the “Fines Double in Work Zones” signs. Although merged to one lane, drivers kept going at the same 55 or 65 miles per hour, creating a dangerous environment for the workers building our roads. Also, we noticed that in many cases, basic safety procedures were not being followed by the workers themselves creating a workplace accident catastrophe waiting to happen.

We also saw a motorcycle with no turn signals or rear stop light weaving between three lanes at 85 miles per hour at dusk. Another motorcycle accident tragedy waiting to happen.

A driver traveling below the speed limit on the left lane for about 15 miles, blocking the traffic and refusing to change over. When a passenger bus passed them on the right at about 90 miles per hour, they felt the swoosh, and finally realized they were causing a big backup and moved over to the left. They are lucky that they did not cause a big highway auto and bus accident.

Finally, a multi-vehicle crash in a construction zone where the temporary barriers create a tight space for two lanes with no shoulders. Of course, there was an 18-wheeler involved in that highway accident.

So what does all of this mean for you as it relates to road trips in Texas and throughout the amazing USA?  Please BE CAREFUL!  Follow the signs, be preemptive and be a defensive driver.  Anytime there is an auto, 18-wheeler or workplace accident, there is the likelihood that it could have been prevented if only more caution was applied.  You can never be too careful. It’s better than ending up the injured victim of an auto, 18-wheeler or workplace accident.

If you or a loved one has been killed or injured in an auto accident, or even and accident involving an 18-wheeler, you have rights. And those rights need to be protected and defended. It is important that the victims of 18-wheeler and auto accidents have the best available resources to them to make sure that they are represented by an experienced personal injury attorney that can represent them to receive the maximum amount of compensation possible for their accident injuries and / or loss of life.
