Red light fatalities
Last night, as I was making a late night run to Walgreen’s to buy a Santa hat, I was reminded again why the yellow light is so important. Yes, the yellow light as in a stop light. Red, Yellow, Green. As I was waiting for my red light to change to green, I noticed cars flying by at high speeds trying to make the yellow light and then the red light. Four cars ran the red light. They all entered the intersection clearly after the light was red. Fatalities waiting to happen.
In case you need a reminder, when a light turns to yellow it is an indication to slow down to a stop as red is coming within seconds. It is not intended to be an “accelerate” signal. Every year thousands of people are injured or even die in auto accidents involving running a red light. These auto accident injuries can be devastating to all parties involved. For the parties that are injured, it could be a long road to recovery from the injuries from an auto accident. Sometimes these injuries and scars are permanent and could result in a lifetime of pain. In the case of a fatality, the victim’s family will have to deal with the loss of a loved one due to an auto accident fatality. For the driver at fault, if they are lucky enough to not get injured, it could mean a lifetime of regret, emotional pain, financial and even legal consequences of manslaughter in the event of a fatality in an auto accident.
So when you are out driving and you see a yellow light, do the right thing. Avoid an auto accident by simply doing what you are supposed to do: slow down and come to a stop. In the unfortunate event that you are involved in an auto accident where someone ran a red light or stop sign, it is important that you seek legal help as soon as possible. Untreated injuries, missing or incomplete evidence and other details of the auto accident can cause problems later on in your claim.
